Home sweet Florence

We have been in Florence over three weeks now and we are finally starting to get the swing of things. We finally moved out of Raika's apartment and into our own 180 sqft apartment! (yes, 180. We didn't miss a zero). It's located a few feet away from the famous Ponte Vecchio, close to shops, markets and many gelato shops :). It has a combo kitchen/living/bedroom, a separate bathroom, and has a wonderful terrace with a partial view of the Duomo. We finally got to unpack some of our things and put our suitcases away! We like to walk to the store and buy Pecorino and fresh fruit and sit under the sun in our terrace and enjoy the florentine roofs.  Amid the hustle and bustle of the tourist-packed streets, the terrace is really peaceful, and a perfect place to enjoy a Riserva Chianti (so I'm told)
We are happy here and we will be in this apartment for the rest of our stay in Florence.
In the past few weeks we have visited many local spots in Florence, including Piazzale Michelangelo, which is the highest point of the city. The view of the red roofs and towering church steeples is amazing. We also spent time at the San Lorenzo market which is packed with leather vendors, delicious food, and various other goodies.
We spent one morning at the Museo Di Galileo, which was full of interesting scientific gadgets and trinkets (think of the Ruben H. Fleet center minus 200 years). They even have one of Galileo's partially decomposed fingers on display!! A real treat for those on an empty stomach.
We discovered a sandwich shop, 'All' Antico Vinaio', which has become our favorite. One gigantic sandwich on fresh-baked focaccia for 5€, its a steal! (2€ per glass wine doesn't hurt either).
The city is starting to feel like home. We hang our clothes to dry and drink wine at every meal...almost like real Italians!
We do miss San Diego though! The weather here has been a bit chilly and there have been quite a few rainy days.
We are planning our next trip and will keep you posted wherever we go next!
Ciao for now!
